Taylor Swift Leaves ACM Awards Emptyhanded
The five nominations unfortunately did not yield any awards for Taylor Swift at the 45th Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards this past Sunday. She had quite the competition this year facing off against Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and several others.
Carrie Underwood took the night’s top honor, Entertainer of the Year. This is her second consecutive win in this category and also the first female solo artist to do so. She joins the ranks of seven other women who have earned Entertainer of the Year in its 40-year history.
Taylor Swift shouldn’t worry too much about this one awards show. There will be plenty more opportunities for her with Swift still in the prime of her career. Furthermore, her six times platinum album, Fearless, was recognized as the Most Awarded Album in the History of Country Music. At a private event in Nashville, Swift was joined by Big Machine Machine Records Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta and representatives from NARAS, The American Music Awards, The Country Music Association, and the Academy of Country Music to celebrate her achievement.
Fearless is the only album in history to win a GRAMMY for the all-genres; Album of The Year, plus Country Album of the Year Awards from The GRAMMY’s, The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music, and The American Music Awards.
Taylor Swift is currently on her Fearless 2010 tour and will be performing to sold out audiences through the beginning of June. Get your Taylor Swift tickets before they’re gone!
